Good Lord!

Someone's getting serious about drinking and driving. Check out these new ads.

I found myself getting annoyed with the women in the first two. I'm like "Why didn't you drive?" and "Why did you get in the car with this drunk?" They almost deserve what they got.

Yeah. Just like women who complain about getting raped after they wear skimpy outfits.

I couldn't be prouder of my home province.

Sheesh, Josh, you're like the bad analogy king. Nobody forced these women to ride with those drunks. Riding with a drunk is as dangerous as driving drunk. More dangerous really, when you realize many cars have less in the way of protection for passengers than for drivers. These women voluntarily and knowingly put themselves in harm's way when they could have taken some very elementary steps to avoid it. When someone does something stupid like that, my sympathy for them is somewhat limited.

While I found myself wondering why the women would get in the car with someone who was drunk and then lecture them when they should be concentrating very hard on the road, I did find it a bit realistic that they would be in the car. For people who party with their friends, especially when they're young, they will do stupid things like get in cars with stranger and ride with someone who'd been drinking just because they say they're fine.

Have you guys seen the jetta commercials? Those are just as jarring, though slightly more realistic.

Realism isn't the issue. It would be just like a woman to get in a car with a drunk man and then nag him all the way home about being drunk. After all, what an impaired driver really needs is an irritating distraction in the passenger seat.

I liked the one Jetta crash commercial where they had just seen the sad movie. The girl in the passenger seat was cute.

That wasn't an analogy, that was sarcasm.

But I'll gladly be the bad analogy king if you'll accept the title Czar of Sexism. Come on. "It would be just like a woman?" "They almost deserve what they got?" I feel sick.

"It would be just like a woman" was a joke, something I've said to This Girl for all the many years I've known her.

As for almost deserving it, they would still almost deserve it if they were men.
